We got to Robe in the morning and it was finally a nice, sunny day. Though we weren’t staying in town, we had heard it was a nice place and were keen to have a look around. It felt like a classic beachside holiday town, right next to the turquoise ocean with a cute little main street with some nice looking cafes and restaurants. From Robe, we drove another 45 minutes or so to Southend where we would set up camp for two nights at the Southend Sands Caravan Park, a small and well-priced spot about 2 minute walk from the beach. It was nice and warm in the arvo so we headed straight to the beach and had a dip in the southern ocean and relaxed beachside for a while.

Back at camp, we took advantage of being the only ones there and played some pool and table tennis in the rec room. There was a big thunderstorm during the night with gale force winds almost taking down the tent. Next morning, happy to have had a few hours sleep, we waited for the rain to stop and the sun to shine till we went for a walk through town to a short walking trail which led us to a great lookout over the ocean. The wind had started to pick up again so we headed back to do some work and planning. We headed off early the next morning towards Mount Gambier.
